Disability Insurance
Disability Insurance
Your greatest asset is your health...the ability to provide and earn an income. Long Term Disability Insurance protects you from the possible loss or reduction of income as a result of not being able to work due to a sickness, injury or disability.
Group Disability Programs offered by employers is a perk some people get to enjoy if employed by an employer. Most of these plans are limited in scope and have limitations on the benefits they provide. Most plans offer a own occupation definition for a period of two years, followed by an any occupation definition. Which means, that if you can do anything else qualified by education and ability, you get cut off. That means you may end up working at McDonalds or Walmart. Having your own benefits can also be integrated with your group plans making them very affordable.
If you are self employed, you should look at some type of plan to cover yourself in case of disability which can be customized to your personal situation.

Critical Illness Insurance
Critical Illness Insurance
Critical illness provides a benefit if you are diagnosed with one of the covered conditions benefit and satisfy the required waiting period, usually 30 days. The coverage then terminates.
